IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN

If I would start this by saying " I need a new day dress for summer" I would obviously not only be lying to myself, aware of it, but also to the whole internet. Hehe. Definitely do not need yet another one. Want one? Yup. And miss-I-can't-fit-all-dresses-in-my-wardrobe-anymore is sick alone here at home and will most certainly let it happen again; start with the clicking.

The only question is: which one?

Oh my. I just can't stop drooling over pretty dresses I spot online! Clothing porn. I am a total dress addict and for the moment there are quite many notifications from the post office about parcels to picked up that I'm waiting to receive (oh yeah!). And just as I've decided not to allow myself to order anything for a while I stumble across this beauty. Oh! What a shame to leave it all alone out there on the internet and not on me instead...

SOME PEOPLE NEVER HAVE TO CLEAN UP BY THEMSELVES BUT I'M NOT ONE OF THOSE

If you ever wondered this is what I look like when I do my cleaning (and like this when I make the magic in the kitchen happen). And I listen to opera while I do it, of course.

Let's not break any illusions here shall we, I actually AM vacuuming in those pics because sometimes you need to do so. Vacuum that is. Weather I actually always do it all dressed up or not is a totally different question, but sometimes it's just inevitable to do it right there right then so at least it has happened once.

WIGGLE IT

Me and my sewing machine have produced the ultimate wiggle dress!

Originally made for a show of mine, it also works great as a party dress and fits like a glove, with buttons all the way up and a soft leopard lining. (But, to be honest, I can't call myself a genius though - I had to add fabric three times in order to be able to fit in and fasten it, which after some minor (read: major) swearing actually turned out rather nice with three fancy seams in the front that looks totally "meant to be". And I have to pin it to my bra I order not to flash too much of what's inside of it... )

WHOAH! ONE MORE DRESS ADDED TO THE COLLECTION...

Ta-taa: it has arrived, the temptation I fell for: my Avian dress from Trashy Diva!

And it was delivered straight to my door - now that's what I call service! The doorbell rang and there was the postman and he just handed me my dress over. Why can't all things in life go as smooth?

Turned out it was a tiny bit too loose in the wast though so I was thinking of putting some ribbon in the back to chinch it in. However, after some bubbly and crispy at Punavuoren Putiikki's opening, a whole lot of tapas and sangria there after, an ice cream in the park - strawberry sorbet and peppermint cream. Great combination - and later on a big iced latte on a sunny terrace it fit like a dream! No loose fabric anymore anywhere ;)

But for the record, attaching two ribbons just behind the waist to tie into a bow in the back is an easy way to tuck in a dress a centimeter or two without any needles and pins and cutting. Less risky, easy to detach. Ribbons in the same color as the dress go rather unnoticed but can still make a small nice detail (or if you feel like it, why don't go for contrast colored ribbons as well?)

Oh, and also, since I get the question quite a lot - I can push my pedals perfectly well in my Parikka's. It's not that hard biking in high heeled shoes at all!

GIRLS ON BOARD

That's me and my new (very snug) dress on last weeks burlesque cruise which was a total blast and success!

The venue was a mix of hula girls, mermaids and sailors. Paula was dressed as a lobster girl in all- red from top to toe, lashes as well. (Even though she actually turned out a crab-girl since she never found a lobster for her hat as planned but had to use a glittered crab instead. Not that it really matters though, we just thought lobster girl had a nicer sound to it.) I wasn't really dressed as anything particular, just inspired by the pacific theme of the night. And it doesn't show in any pictures but I had matched my hair flowers with my dark yellow heels. (I just had to point that out since it looked very good and so I'd be able to sleep better at night. Phew, good, now you all know.)

Oh well, now I'll start preparing for a solo act show I'll do tonight. If you like me, and unlike most others, spend Midsummer in town why don't spend it at Bar Loose with some psychobilly and burlesque?
Either way and anyhow, for those of you that celebrate Midsummer's Day, have a great one!

I WANTED TO COME UP WITH SOME SMART HEADLINE BUT I DIDN'T

Some time ago I wrote about the advantages of revamping a piece of clothing so it becomes more wearable. But as great an idea it may be to reach for the scissors, do think twice - I did a small closet clean out and cursed my 17 old hippie ass for destroying a lot of fine clothing; making high waists low, changing the shape of skirts, and worst of all, drawing with this awful decoration paste on some pieces making them totally unwearable for someone who does no longer spend the days burning incense listening to, ehrm, goa trance.

After crying blood for a little while it was however time to get on with some cutting, as I am wiser now than ten years ago (amen! to that). My gradmother recently gave me her hand made foot-long dress that hasn't been worn for a couple of decades. It's ultra thin and beautifully flowing, so for a while it felt like a shame to cut it. But hey, if no one wears it the way it is, why hesitate? After scrweing up and cutting it off too much and then managing to save it again, it turned into something that might become my favorite new summer dress - so unbelievably light to wear, with such a lovely collar and what best, the ugly-pretty pattern makes it go along with my yellow, purple, blue green and pink shoes and sandals! (Or red ones for contrast, like now, together with the belt. No need to mention black shoes since they go with everything anyway but yeah those too). Now that's what I call a versatile dress!


As for the hair, I did a mixture of these two hairdo's (my number 3 and 4). The vintage bow comb is from Hoochie Mama Jane.

Tonight it's time for club Wanted again! And it will be a great night. But, to be honest, right now I'd just like to crawl up in a corner and wait there for a couple of months; for better times, for spring, but I have a show to do tonight and it will be a fabulous one (as usual, but really, it's just getting better! :)

So I'm going to make the best out of it and wear one of my best dresses too. (I've never actually had a dress before that fits so good in the waist like this one. Amazing.) And put on my red glittering lipstick that will sparkle like hell on stage. Yeah.

I should go out more often so I'd get to dress up all fancy and fine! I haven't been out for real in ages since we've had shows every weekend this winter; the day before I'm usually just taking it weasy and the day after Iäm too tored to go anywhere. But oh, I have too many dresses just waiting to be worn and I feel them hanging in my wardrobe shouting "wear me, wear me!". So, last Friday I went to the warm up party for the main event of HBF all dressed up fancy and fine of course, wearing my Stop Staring dress that had been hanging there all sad and unworn for half a year (oh my).

Next Saturday I'll go dancing at a Valentine's ball! That will make some other dress of mine very happy (and me look all fancy and fine in return). Oh yes!

THE BOW DRESS

BRIGHT

After a nice lunch with K, a stop by the cake gallery for some sweets and then for some other kinds of sweets from the Minna Parikka boutique I ment to spend the rest of the day at home doing some organizing and cleaning up aswell as taking care of some job related things that has been on the agenda forever.

But, that's a bit hard to do in my new flat, since the light that comes in from the window in the middle of the day is very bright and beautiful. I find it hard to concentrate on anything specific (this is of course only due to my flat and has nothing to do with the fact that I maybe, perhaps, might be a little un-organized from time to time). Since the light is too bright for sitting by the computer and it would be a shame to pull down the cutrains I ended up browsing through some old stuff in my drawers - photos and cards and small notes from everywhere, after which I went out for a nice walk in the autumn like weather (as it would also be a shame to sit inside alone in a dress this nice too, wouldn't it?)

And since the dress is very nice indeed I'll trhow in some more pics of it.

PREPARATIONS / CHAMPAGNE

Even though I most of the time try to get away in the easiest way possible- doing hairdo's in five minutes tryig to make them look like they would take say, 25 - I sometimes do like to make slow preparations to get everything just right. This time I took the pateince to pin my hair the night before in many many small picurls (then it's always with an almost childish excitement I open the curls next morning to see what they have turned out like, even though the result is pretty much the same every time). Then I spent a long time rolling my bang to get it just right, and unlike most times when I do this, it did not start raining outside, so my hair did stay nice all night long :)

Now this is my new absolute favourite dress. I wore it to the wedding I went to last week (and I had to try very hard not to outshine the bride ;)
The wedding turned out to be quite the party later on, and unfortunately my silk dream got quite a big amount of champagne spilled over it at some point of the night. It is now being taken care of at the drycleaners...

Before I'll go on a detox-week to the countryside, doing yoga, drinking green tea all day long and reading all those books I've bought during the past year but haven't had the time to even look at (Yeah right! I'm so going to fail my good intentions...) I'm throwing a small dinner party. I love occasions where I can wear my dresses. The fancier, the better. And I have a lot of dresses. That means I go to a lot of occasions too :)

Later we'll go out and I'll get even more reasons to do my detox-week. Let's see how it goes and how long I manage to enjoy the silence of the archipelago though - there are some pretty tempting gigs during the weekend also...

(You can't have too many dresses no. But you can actually go out too much. I have to rest a bit and try to skip those gigs I think!)

Feelgood-school2: When nice colours and nice food doesn't do the trick anymore. Inspite of the great day yesterday, some of those same thigs I wined about earlier this week still bother me I'm afraid. Damn emotions. But, I'm no longer sad, only angy, so angry infact it made me all energetic and happy. Strange huh? And as much as I'd hate to admit it, getting myself some new stuff does make me feel better. So I went and got myself that one dress I've been checkin out forever (last piece left, fits like a dream). It has a pattern with pink swallows and palmtrees and a cute bow and I'm totally worth it. So now I'm going to go out and rock! Positive rage, ha! (if something like that exists? :)


I'm an arrogant little bitch tonight. (But I'm still nice in general.)

(While I was at it I also decied to stop just longing for MinnaParikka shoes - I'm getting myself a pair for autumn! I'm totally worth that too.)

((And I know it would look better if my shoes were without the white details toghether with this dress but, blah, no slaving to the details tonight. I just wanted to wear green shoes now))

EDIT : I did have a good night; some whiskey togehter with a couple of the best guys I know. Ran in to the source of my anger (or part of it) and I was firm, but fair. And a little bit arrogant too. Thank god I was wearing that dress.
